National Philanthropy Initiative
As of September 2, 2023, Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, Incorporated has implemented a Rotating National Philanthropy program.
Each year, we highlight and support the Philanthropy efforts of one of our Chapters, which are making significant impacts in their communities. This approach allows us to address diverse needs and amplify our impact where it matters most.
We align our National Philanthropy with the Chapter hosting our Convention each year. This decision underscores our commitment to understanding and supporting the unique needs and aspirations of the communities we serve.
These changes reflect our unwavering dedication to corporate social responsibility and our desire to build stronger connections with the communities we are privileged to be a part of.
Why We Are Doing This
The rotating philanthropy initiative is a strategic approach to ensure that each chapter has the chance to lead and highlight their community impact.
This method not only showcases the work of our chapters but also strengthens connections between members, alumni, and the communities we serve. By rotating the annual philanthropy focus, we leverage the strengths of each chapter, creating a dynamic and evolving approach to service.
This initiative underscores our commitment to leadership development and community service, demonstrating the power of collective action and the importance of supporting each other to uplift and empower the Latine community.
Local Philanthropy
Each chapter is dedicated to fostering awareness and contributing to causes that resonate within both their university and local community, with a particular emphasis on empowering women, promoting education, and uplifting the Latinx community. Through a myriad of initiatives, including hosting events, volunteering, and collaborating with other organizations, chapters endeavor to raise awareness and effect positive change in these vital areas.

Founding Story
The Reno Initiative for Shelter & Equality (RISE) was founded in January 2012 when a group of friends began preparing home-cooked meals for their community. What started as a small kitchen project quickly grew into a formal organization within six months. RISE is now dedicated to addressing local needs and inspiring community-driven projects, embodying a spirit of service and commitment to positive change.
Chapter Contributions to RISE totaled $2,893, with the National Board matching a portion of these donations and including 300 sandwiches donated to Crossroads Women’s Shelter. In total, Alpha Pi Sigma contributed $6,000.

Alpha Chapter
The Alpha Chapter of this organization proudly supports the Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) by organizing mentorship and tutoring programs aimed at empowering students from under-resourced communities. These programs provide college readiness, academic support, and scholarships for students in the Barrio Logan area, reinforcing our commitment to equal access to higher education and the transformation of our local communities.
BETA CHAPTER
Adelitas
The Beta chapter of this organization continues the legacy of "Adelitas" by hosting a conference specifically for high school seniors and transfer students. This conference helps these students adapt to a four-year university environment and provides them with scholarships, which aligns with the organization's mission to empower and support the educational journey of young women of color.
DELTA CHAPTER
House of Ruth
At Delta Chapter of this organization we champion the independence and strength of women. House of Ruth, founded by a domestic violence survivor, shares this mission by providing a safe space and resources for women to regain their independence. By offering support and job opportunities, House of Ruth helps women rebuild their lives, aligning perfectly with our values of empowerment and resilience
ZETA CHAPTER
National Cervical Cancer Coalition (NCCC) Fresno Chapter
The NCCC Fresno Chapter focuses on educating and raising awareness about cervical cancer through seminars, self-care education, and screening events in partnership with Fresno State Health Center. This aligns with our sorority’s mission to empower and educate our community about the importance of pap smears. Our engagement started with a Alpha’s personal experience and led to collaboration with NCCC, reinforcing our commitment to this vital cause.

Mu Chapter
The Mu Chapter of this organization proudly supports university, Healthy Alternative to Violent Environments (HAVEN) community by providing confidential assistance to students, staff, and faculty impacted by interpersonal violence. This program offers a range of services, including peer counseling, safety planning, case management, advocacy, crisis intervention, hospital and court accompaniment, and resource referrals, which aligns with the mission to foster a safe and supportive learning environment for all.

The Reno Initiative for Shelter & Equality
RISE helps women and children experiencing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and support. Founded in January 2012 from a grassroots initiative to feed those in need, RISE now works to empower individuals facing various challenges to rebuild their lives in a safe environment.
