Our
Current Chapters
Alpha Pi Sigma started with a group of thirteen special
ladies back in March of 1990. These ladies are the Founding Members
of the organization and the Alpha Chapter.
Since 1990 Alpha Pi Sigma has successfully established three additional
chapters (Beta, Gamma,
and Delta), and continues to expand
the organization through the California State University and University
of California system.
Alpha Pi Sigma currently has over 200 sisters in its membership.
In addition, Alpha Pi Sigma also has two Alumni Associations in
Southern California. These associations are located in the Los Angeles
and San Diego regions.

Chapter
Requirements
The following information is the required guidelines in
order to establish a chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma:
1.
Need a minimum of 15 ladies.
2. Each lady must complete an application (there is no fee required
to be part of the interest group).
3. Get an advisor; he or she must be a faculty/staff member on campus.
An advisor is required so that the group may have someone who is
familiar with the campus and its resources. At most universities
an advisor is needed in order to gain on campus status.
4. Obtain on-campus status as an organization. Please check with
your local university on the procedures that are required to do
so.
5. Choose a group name.
6. Design a t-shirt or sweatshirt. All of them must be identical
including the same color and design for all interest group members.
7. Maintain a scrapbook of all activities.
8. Set-up an Executive Board. (ie: President, Secretary, etc.)
9. Hold meetings following an agenda and take minutes.
10. Adopt a community project in relation to the Latino community.
11. Organize fund-raisers (on or off-campus). Proceeds are to help
pay for t-shirts, material for scrap book, film developing, flyers,
etc.
12. Open a non-profit checking account. Many bank will not charge
a monthly fee because the organization is not profit.
*After
all these steps have been accomplished then the Alpha Pi Sigma National
Board will meet with the ladies of the interest group and decide
if the interest group has met all the requirements to begin the
process of pledging.
